WHAT PARENTS CAN EXPECT FROM THE HOCKEY CLUB
- We will respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and treat everyone equally within the context of the game or training session
- Coaches will encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance
- We will never physically or verbally abuse or neglect players and actively stop such behaviour between players
- Coaches will consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance
- We will ensure that all people who work in hockey at, or for, our club (including staff, officials, volunteers, team managers, coaches) have a responsibility for safeguarding young people and understand how the safeguarding policy and guidance applies to them.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOUR CHILD
- To play fairly and respect the rules of the game
- To respect their coaches and teammates
- To adhere to the young people’s code of conduct and behaviour
WHAT THE CLUB EXPECTS OF PARENTS
- Ensure your child is dropped off and picked up promptly from the venue
- Contact session organisers/coaches if you are running late to collect your child.
- Use appropriate language at all times
- Stay off the pitch during training and matches
- Provide emergency contact details and any relevant information about your child including medical history
- Get to know your children’s coaches, as they will play an important role in your child’s development, and respect their opinions and advice
- Teach your child that winning is not everything and it is important to recognise and reward effort
- To not abuse umpires and officials – they are volunteers and your child cannot play without them
- To not force your child to participate if they do not want to – they play for their enjoyment, not yours
